GFCT to Host FREE Family Theatre in the Park This July and August
GLENS FALLS, N.Y., June 30, 2021, For Immediate Release – The Glens Falls Community Theatre will be
presenting free outdoor performances of two children’s classics this summer for children and families to
enjoy at the bandshell in Crandall Park. Shows will take place on Tuesday evenings in July and August
starting at 6:30 pm.
Miss Nelson is Missing!
The season kicks off on Tuesday July 6th with “Miss Nelson is Missing,” the story of a sweet elementary
school teacher, Miss Nelson, who after failing to take control over her unruly class at Horace B. Smedley
School, she decides to shift her soft approach. Miss Viola Swamp, a real witch of a substitute, slinks into
the classroom to whip the students into shape, thus leading the students to believe that Miss Nelson is
Missing!
The show is directed by Avery Babson and a talented cast led by Noreen Szmul as Miss Nelson.
Additional performances will take place on July 13, 20 and 27, all at 6:30 PM
Charlotte’s Web
“Charlotte’s Web,” the warm and wonderful children’s classic, will come to life on Tuesday’s this August
at 6:30 pm. The show is directed by Erin Coon and tells the story of how Charlotte the spider saves the
life of Wilbur the pig. The cast features Lauren Whiting as Wilbur and Camille West Wodicka as
Charlotte, along with talented cast portraying the animals and humans. Both shows were selected to be
enjoyed by younger audiences and families.
Food Trucks
Several food trucks will be on hand with options for dinner, snacks and ice cream, so the community is
encouraged to arrive early and enjoy a bite to eat in the park.
It’s Free!
All shows will take place at the bandshell in Crandall Park. Parking for the event can use the public lots
within the park, or near the Glens Falls YMCA. Admission to both events is free with suggested
donations to be made to help GFCT continue providing theatrical performance to the local community.
